Important Points to Remember about Chiropractic Adjustments

Prior to receiving an adjustment, a full exam and work-up will be performed. This will consist of obtaining vitals, inspection, and palpation of the affected area, range of motion study, orthopedic examination, neurological examination, functional screens, gait analysis, and if required an x-ray. This all ensures that the correct diagnosis is made and that you are receiving the best care possible.

Once the examination is completed, a report of findings will be scheduled. The doctor will review what was found during the examination, what the diagnosis is and the treatment options. Following the report, treatment will begin and will include chiropractic adjustments. There are many different ways your doctor may perform an adjustment.  Each care plan and adjustment is specifically tailored for each patient and each case. This is important for making sure all of our patients are receiving the best evidence-based care possible.

When it is time to proceed with an adjustment, the doctor will use a controlled thrust with either his hand or an instrument. These treatments help reduce nerve irritation, increase pain-free range of motion, decrease inflammation, and ultimately facilitate healing in the affected area. Our chiropractor is highly trained to ensure that every procedure is done safely and correctly. Chiropractic adjustments cause minimal discomfort and are typically painless. After the procedure, the doctor will reassess the area of complaint. Follow-up care and at-home recommendations will be discussed to help continue the healing process until you have reached your treatment goals.
